Some of my most meaningful work happens outside of journals: in auditoriums, sanctuaries, museums, and conference halls. To make it easier to bring that conversation to your organization, I’ve launched a new Speaking page.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with audiences across health, education, science, faith, and community spaces, including:

  • National health and science institutions: the NIH National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the NC Department fo Health and Human Services, and NC Institute of Medicine

  • Colleges & Universities, Grand Rounds: the Duke School of Medicine Dean’s Distinguished Research Series, OB/GYN Grand Rounds at UNC-Chapel Hill, Children’s National Hospital, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

  • Named lectures and keynotes: the Dr. Richard Payne Lecture on Faith, Justice, and Healthcare at Duke, the Dr. Bertha Maxwell-Roddey Lecture at UNC Charlotte, and the Science of Soul: Black Women and Family Health Conference

  • Academic conference and professional organizations invited lectures and panels: the Society for Research in Child Development, American College of Nurse-Midwives, American Library Association, American Thoracic Association

  • Cultural and community spaces: the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and faith communities equipping churches to support stressed youth, congregational health.

  • Corporate audiences: Major Publisher and Tech organization affinity or Black history lectures.

  • International audiences: Renmin University in Beijing

I speak on how structural racism shapes health across the lifespan, rethinking resilience and the “superwoman” expectation, faith and health, racial stress in schools, and building equity into research from beginning to end.

Whether you are planning a keynote, grand rounds, fireside chat, or panel, I tailor every talk to the people in the room.
